Revamp scheme for play areas

Story posted on

THREE Westbury play areas will get face lifts totalling £41,854.

Members of the council’s highways, planning and development committee noted on Monday night that the council’s play area working group has awarded the contract for making the improvements to Mantleisure, a company which has previously carried out high standard works on its play areas.

Campion play area will be having new fencing and gates, a new bench and drainage in the lower part of the play area and some play boards. A path for wheelchair access will also be created.

At Primmers play area the multi-play and swing will be replaced with a larger multi-play piece of equipment, with the equipment that is being removed being used to replace old, damaged multi-play equipment in Kendrick play area.

The funding for these projects will mainly come from Community Infrastructure Levy money – the CIL is a charge which can be levied by local authorities on new development in their area.
