A VIRTUAL charity race night has raised over £1,000 for the Leigh Park Community Centre’s community garden project.
“We raised £1,083 from the event which will make a huge difference to our community garden project,” said Debbie Cole, the centre manager. “It will enable residents of all ages to come along, help beat isolation and loneliness, provide volunteering opportunities and learn new skills. Without the generous support from individuals and companies in our community, projects like this would not be possible.
“We would like to thank our business sponsors Perry Landscape Services, Leigh Park Garden Machinery and Stone Developments for their kind sponsorship, all of the guests who attended and Sam Gooding who hosted the evening for us.”
Community gardens are designed to encourage people to become more socially and physically active and to develop stronger ties to their community and can provide relief from stress and inactive lifestyles.
