Westbury entertained Rockhampton in the latest Premier 2 Division hoping to win the game and catch the teams above.
Westbury won the toss and they decided to field and Rockhampton made a good start by putting on 36 runs for the first wicket and then Westbury struck twice in two balls by having Wakefield caught brilliantly by Burdock for 10 off the bowling of Oakley and he also dismissed Brothwood next ball caught by Whiting for 0.
Matt Tyler was bowled by Esau for 38 and Will Tyler and Rowan Cartlidge took the total to 117 when Westbury struck again by having Will Tyler leg before by the Westbury spinner Gill for an excellent 47.
Mills came to the fore by having Cartlidge caught behind by Scott for 22. The Rockhampton lower order took the total 169 for 9 wickets off their allotted 50 overs. Dan Gill (4-32 off 9 overs) had the best figures ably supported by Richard Oakley (2-27 off 10 overs) and Richard Mills (2-45 off 10 overs).
When Westbury started their run chase to get the 170 runs to win, they were undone by some good bowling and some loose shots and sadly they lost 7 wickets for 86 runs. Early on Esau (35) and Coles (25) had tried to build on a disastrous start. Eventually Westbury subsided to 118 all out, with this defeat it is inevitable that Westbury will be relegated at the end of the season.
