Help commemorate fallen WW1 Bratton soldiers

BRATTON Parish Council is looking for help to find land to plant trees to commemorate the soldiers from Bratton who lost their lives during World War One.

The parish council reports, “Through the British Legion, the council has been made aware of an initiative to plant one tree for each life lost in every borough, county or parish on a piece of dedicated land, with trees obtained from the Woodland Trust. There were 10,000 lives lost during WW1 in Wiltshire, 23 of these from Bratton.

“It is difficult for the council to find land in its ownership to accommodate this opportunity, but if someone is aware of any spare unused land that could be dedicated in this way, perhaps you can contact the chair and he will put you in touch with the British Legion.”
