BARNARDO’S in Westbury has organised a fundraising 5km sponsored walk, in aid of the charity, and is inviting you to join in.
Bringing the community together is a big aim for the charity shop in Palomino Place and it wants the whole family, and furry friends, to join them for a fundraising 5k walk, starting and finishing at the shop.
The walk will take place on Saturday 15th September starting at 9.30am. The route has been planned by Martin Honor who is a member of the Walking For Health, Get Wiltshire Walking group and will take you from the shop, towards Wellhead Lane, through the woodland, back through Leigh Park returning back to the shop.
You can take it at your own pace, meaning that everyone can get involved. If you cannot be there on the day, you can sponsor the walkers by visiting the store and filling out a sponsorship form, giving what you can. Money raised will be put towards local projects.
On the morning of the walk, Tracy Deacon from Gossip and Whine, along from the Barnardo’s store, will be providing breakfast deals for the walkers with bacon or egg rolls for £3, with also a full range of breakfast items available, so you can fuel up before you begin!
Angie Devereux, manager of the Westbury shop said, “We are always looking to get involved with the community and as a collective, the businesses here at Palomino Place, try to work together to bring opportunities to the people of Westbury.
“The team here try to come up with different ways to fundraise money for the charity instead of relying on sales of donations, so we came up with the idea of doing a sponsored walk. Early next year we are also holding a fashion show, which we are organising at the moment, so stay tuned for that and recently we had our cake sale that raised over £200.
“It will be a great day and hopefully lots of people will turn up to walk with us and also support the cause.”
