On a dry warm sultry June day, 17 members of the Westbury Walkers club set off from Trudoxhill on their monthly walk led by David Barker.
Following the Macmillan way they proceeded to Witham Hall Farm before turning S/W to Witham Friary passing Fish ponds on their way. At Witham they followed the footpath round between Lower and Higher Bitcombe Woods to reach Wanstrow via Hunters Lodge Farm.
Lunch was amusingly accompanied by a herd of inquisitive young cows. Turning N/E they then followed public footpaths to make their way up between Alice Street Farm and Wood before turning S/E near a reservoir to pick up the path that runs through the middle of Postlebury Wood and back to Trudoxhill.
Despite the slight haze, there were good views across open countryside and especially across to Alfred’s Tower for most of the day.
