A Westbury Town Council by-election will be held to fill the council seat left vacant following the resignation of David Tout.
Cllr Russell Hawker urged residents to call for an election as he was concerned that if the role was filled by co-option, the council would be left with a majority of eight co-optees out of the 15 seats on the council.
The request for a by-election was made by 19 electors, surpassing the 10 required.
The election to fill the Westbury West Ward seat will take place no later than Tuesday 17th July. A confirmed date is yet to be announced.
