Snow doesn’t stop World Book Day celebrations:

DUE to the storm causing a ‘snow day’ on World Book Day this year, Dilton Marsh Primary School didn’t let that stop them from celebrating, moving the day to Monday 5th March.

The staff dressed up as Mr Men or Little Miss characters and the children dressed up as their favourite book character. During the day, the children created their own Mr Men characters, wrote their own Mr Men books and took part in a book swap.

Chris Foyle, literacy co-ordinator at the school said,  “The plan for the day was to promote reading and make it fun and enjoyable for the children, this was certainly achieved!

“The children really enjoyed dressing up and we are so grateful to the families for helping with their outfits and supporting them and us. We have also held a Scholastic Book Fayre this week, which has been incredibly popular.”

WESTBURY Infant School children and staff braved the weather on Thursday 1st March, dressing up as their favourite book characters for World Book Day.

Elizabeth Channon, of the school said, “The children had a lovely morning talking about their characters and explaining why they chose their particular characters.

“Reading was a large focus of the morning and time was given to children to choose their favourite stories to read.”
