Whatever moves you – do it for Sport Relief at Leighton!

Sport Relief is almost upon us and the team at Leighton will be putting on some events for all the community to get involved in, have some fun and raise some money for charity.

On Friday 16th March they are holding a quiz night – this will be a fun, fast-paced quiz across a range of themes; general knowledge, history, local knowledge, sport etc. There will be something for everyone. Teams need a maximum of 4 people, an obligatory silly team name and it’s £5 per person. The bar will be open for the evening, there will be a raffle and prizes. Register your team beforehand.

The quiz night begins at 7.45pm on Friday 16th – it’s sure to be a fun night.

On Sunday 18th March there’s a traffic-free 3km fun run around the sports field. As usual, this is a family-friendly event for all ages, including the very young. If they can’t toddle or run yet, you can push them in a buggy. Silly costumes are not required, but are more than welcome!

There will be prizes for winners in the following categories, Over 60s, 18-60, 10-16 and under 10s, but it’s a fun run, so it’s more about the taking part and raising money for Sport Relief.

Adults £5 per person and children under 16 years £3 (contact the centre to register)

The race will start at 10.30am on Sunday 18th March. Congregate on the sports field from 10am and there is ample parking on site.

Last but not least, on Thursday 22nd March there will be a cake sale. Staff, customers and members of the local community are invited to donate cakes and pop along to buy them on the day from 9.30am onwards.

For more information and to get involved in any of the event,s speak to the team at Leighton Recreation Centre on 01373 824448, or pop in and see them at Wellhead Lane. If you’ve never been to your local leisure centre, why not have a tour or try out the facilities with a free 5-day pass.
