MAYOR of Westbury, councillor David Bradshaw, donated £3,000 to two charities in the town last week as he prepares to step down after a year as leader of the town council.
As the mayor’s chosen charities for the year, Crosspoint and Grassacres Hall were presented with £1,500 each to continue their work helping local people. Volunteer and town councillor Sue Ezra received the cheque on behalf of Grassacres Hall, and Crosspoint’s chairman Len Clift and administrator Jessica Nel received the donation on behalf of the wellbeing charity.
Cllr Bradshaw said, “I thank all the people and organisations who have contributed to helping the mayoress and myself raise some £3,000 during my Mayoral year.
“I chose Crosspoint and Grassacres because both charities exclusively serve the Westbury area and do great and valued work with the community. Small organisations like this would struggle to survive without local people’s support, and the help they give is so important.
“I must give a special mention to the mayor’s teddy bear, which has raised a considerable amount through ‘name the bear’ competitions throughout the year, and will now be joining me in retirement.”
