Book now for Westbury Choral’s spring concert

This year’s Spring Concert by Westbury Choral Society promises to be especially memorable, reflecting the choir’s growing reputation.

A choir member explains. “It’s a lovely programme. The Vivaldi  Gloria  is always a joy to sing but it’s John Rutter’s Requiem which is going to make this concert special, as in addition to the usual organ we will have the instrumental accompaniment called for in the score. This is the first time for many years that the choir has sung with an orchestra and we are very excited.”

The concert will take place at Westbury Methodist Church on Saturday 16th April commencing at 7.30pm. The choir will be led by its conductor Luke Pickett with Rob Danter as accompanist and Mary Pope and Maggie Lobb  as soloists.

As well as the main works by Rutter and Vivaldi the programme will include shorter pieces including Adiemus by Karl Jenkins and the sublime ‘No More Sorrow’ by Will Todd. As the concert falls just a few days before The Queen’s 90th birthday the concert will end with Benjamin Britten’s arrangement of the National Anthem.

Ticket prices have again been held at £8 (accompanied children free) and are available at Westbury Information Centre, from members or on the door. although following the full house at the choir’s Christmas Concert it would be advisable to secure seats as early as possible. Parking at the venue is strictly limited so concert goers are asked to use the free parking off Westbury High Street which is only a few minutes walk away.
