Festive family events in Westbury

THERE’S never a shortage of things to do during the festive season, and Westbury has a number of concerts, plays, and great family outings lined up for the coming weeks.

Here are a selection of upcoming events in the town:-

Westbury Christmas Tree Festival at All Saints Church from Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th December. See the full story on page 7.

Bratton Christmas Dinner at the Jubilee Hall from 6.30pm on Friday 11th December. The cost will be £12.50 per person for a three-course meal. All profits go towards repairing the hall.

Carols by Candlelight with Bratton Silver Band at Bratton Baptist Church. From 4.30pm on Sunday 13th December.

Christmas play and lunch at The Laverton, from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Sunday 13th December. Event is free but must be booked in advance. For information call Revd. Iain Murray on 01373 826876.

Rotary Carol Concert  with Bratton Silver Band  at All Saints Church on Monday 14th December. Start at 6pm and hot drinks and mince pies will be on offer.

Christmas Round the World concert at Westbury Methodist Church on Friday 18th December. Christmas music and carols from 7.30pm. Tickets are available from Westbury Choral Society or the heritage centre.

Christmas bingo at Westbury Conservative Club from 6.30pm on Wednesday 16th December. Eyes down 8pm.

Christmas Carol Concert at Westbury Conservative Club on Saturday 19th December. Concert and singalong from 5pm with Corsham Silver Band; Christmas meat raffle draw.

Children’s nativity from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Sunday 20th December at  The Laverton. Entry is free but booking is required. For information call Iain Murray on 01373 826876.

Superfunk Roller Disco at Leighton Recreation Centre on Sunday 20th December. 12.30pm-2pm for 11-13 year olds, and from 2.30-4pm for 14-16 year olds.

Beer and Carols at The Hollies in Westbury Leigh from 8pm on Sunday 20th December.

Carols on the Green on Dilton Marsh Village Green from 7.30pm on Tuesday 22nd December. Traditional carols and songs accompanied by Warminster Brass Band. Free entry – bring a torch!

First communion of Christmas at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve, Wednesday 24th December at churches including All Saints, Holy Saviour, Westbury Leigh, and Holy Trinity in Dilton Marsh.

Family Horse Racing Day on Boxing Day, Saturday 26th December at Westbury Conservative Club. First race at 2pm.
