HUNDREDS ofpeople gathered together for Westbury’s Remembrance Sunday parade and service on 8th November.

Locals lined the streets to watch the annual parade pass through the town on Sunday 8th November, led by the Wiltshire Youth Marching Band.

The parade marched along West End, Haynes Road and High Street before joining the congregation for a Remembrance  service at the Edward Street war memorial.

Revd. Sue Miles of All Saints Church led the service which included bible readings and hymms. The Last Post was played and the crowd held a two- minute silence. This was  followed by the laying of the wreaths by representatives of the town council and local organisations.

The Westbury branch of the Royal British Legion hope to have raised a significant sum for the Poppy Appeal over the remembrance period.

Mary Kneen, chair of the branch said, “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended our Remembrance service. The parade went really well and I think the turn out was as good as last year.

“It was lovely to have the Wiltshire Youth Marching Band to lead us, so thank you to them.

“We are so lucky in Westbury that the residents always support the parade and we thank them. Thankfully the weather held and as always we had a great turnout.”
