Service in celebration of our animal friends

ALL creatures great and small took on a new significance at Wesley  Methodist Church recently when the Rev Marie Attwood held a pets’ service and blessing. 

10 dogs and two budgerigars were attended by their owners young and old.

Hymns, readings and poems all celebrated God’s wonderful creation. There were touches of humour as Rev Marie introduced attendees to her puppet dog Bengie and during the singing of several hymns,  the two budgies tunefully accompanied, together with young James at the keyboard.

All canine friends behaved impeccably and were rewarded at the end of the service by a distribution of doggie treats by the Rev Marie. Their owners also received tea and biscuits!
