Probus Westbury rose to the challenge and entered two teams in the Rotary Club’s annual quiz night held on Friday evening at the Laverton.
They report, “Under the Team Probus banner our two teams were The Young Ones and The Bright Ones. This exceptionally well-run quiz was divided into ten gruelling rounds of varied questions.
“Both our Probus teams went head to head and The Bright Ones took the competition lead when they played their bonus card early in the quiz. In the final round, The Young Ones played their bonus card on the Pot Luck round.
“Scoring heavily and having their round score doubled, The Young Ones finally overtook their Team Probus colleagues and were declared overall winners of the quiz – by 1 point! The Bright Ones coming second. Well done Team Probus! It was a great evening and thank you Rotary for inviting us.
“Probus is an organisation for retired and semi retired professionals and business people. We meet bi-weekly and have attracted many and varied interesting speakers to talk at our meetings. The formal part of the meeting is kept to an absolute minimum!
“We also hold quarterly luncheons for our members. If the idea of meeting like minded people interests you, please enquire about membership or come along, as a guest, to see what you think of us. We meet every two weeks at the meeting hall at the rear of the URC church on the Warminster Road. Meetings start at 10.00am and are finished by 12.00pm. Please contact Bruce Hewitson, on 07968 662 593.
“The next meeting is on Tuesday 29th Sept. Speaker Mike White. Subject Hounds for Heroes.”
