Village enjoys an afternoon out

There was something for everyone at Bratton Baptist Church’s ‘Afternoon Out’ on Saturday 13th June.

Organisers hailed the annual summer event a success recently, after bringing the community together and raising money for charity.

Organiser Tim Rowe said, “The afternoon worked out just as we had hoped, with people of all ages from our community coming together to enjoy a range of activities. We also raised £140 for the Nepal Earthquake appeal.

“Several groups took part in the Geocache Treasure Hunt around the village and enjoyed sports and games on the green, culminating in a giant tug- of-war. Entertainment was provided by Infinity Dance and local band White Horses and guests, alongside a delicious barbecue.

“We also heard from Richard and Kathy, two young people who have been working on the Thai-Burma border with the Baptist Missionary Society, who told us about their experiences there, and gave us a demonstration of how to make sun cream from tree bark and water!

“Look out for publicity about our next event – Bratton Does Strictly – on 12th September.”
