DOROTHY House Hospice Care in Winsley presents Marquee Week, a showcase of activities and events held in a marquee in their grounds to raise money and awareness for the hospice.
Dorothy House Hospice Care supports around 900 families affected by cancer, motor neurone disease and other life threatening conditions and fundraising is a big part of making sure they have the means to continue to support those who need it.
Community fundraiser Yvonne Brunton said, “The fundraising team all thought of an idea for the week so the idea was a group effort. We wanted the events to be accessible to everyone and for there to a variety. We think we’ve achieved this and there really is something for everyone during the week.
“Lots of people have preconceived ideas as to what a hospice is like but we want to show them that it’s a serene and peaceful place set in gorgeous grounds and is not at all like Frankenstein’s Hospital which many people think. It’s a positive place with care and support at the very heart of what we do.
“There will also be members of staff available to answer any questions or just have a chat about what we do. But what we really want to do is raise as much money as possible so we can continue all the work we do.”
