Sevington Victorian School invites the public to step back in time

SET in the heart of Wiltshire, Sevington Victorian School offers a unique learning experience because, as they like to say, ‘history comes to life’.

This summer, the school is opening the doors to the public every Sunday 2:00pm – 5:00pm so they can learn the history first hand.

There is lots on offer; visitors can enjoy  tea and home made cakes in the teacher’s parlour, visit the school room for a taste of Miss Squire’s teaching methods, and take a look at the  small Victorian garden and wash house.

It’s child friendly, with traditional wooden toys to play with and an opportunity for the more extrovert to dress up as Victorian pupils.

They also have a couple of special events coming up as well.  On Sunday 14th June there is an exhibition of samplers made by pupils at Sevington School and elsewhere. Then on the 12th July, it is Miss Squires’ Sports Day. This traditional family event includes hoop rolling, Swedish drill and a dressing up race (Victorian style, of course) All ages welcome.

Admission is free though they are always grateful for donations.
