Magna Carta – Game of Barons new exhibition at Trowbridge Museum

An exciting exhibition will be opening this month at Trowbridge Museum, delving into the distant past, featuring Lord of the Manor of Trowbridge Henry de Bohun and his campaign against the Royal Tyranny of King John.

From medieval weaponry to Lego castles, this exhibition aims to educate and entertain visitors of all ages. There will be heraldry and pageantry as well as displays about daily life, food, warfare, the troubled reigns of Henry II and Richard the Lionheart and much more.

A faithful facsimile of Magna Carta will be available to view (with transcription!) and there will even be some unique souvenirs for sale to celebrate the 800th anniversary of what some people consider to be the birth of modern democracy in this country.

The Grand Opening of this exhibition will take place on Saturday 28th February at 12.00 midday and there will be medieval food and drink on offer for anyone who wishes to be first in to see this splendid exhibition. The displays will run until Saturday 25th July.

The museum will also be celebrating its 25th birthday in July 2015 and there will be a fascinating conference on Magna Carta on Saturday 25th April at Trowbridge Civic Centre. Look out for further details on www.trowbridgemuseum.gov.uk and www.trowbridge.gov.uk.
