THEDuke at Bratton recently topped off a string of fundraising successes with a donation of £1,665 to the Help for Heroes military charity.

Staff and locals ended four years of fundraising events at the pub with the donation.

Landlord Andy Hobbs said, “We’ve been fundraising for four or five years and also donated £2,000 to the Poppy Appeal and £550 to the Westbury Air Cadets, as well as Help for Heroes.

“We chose the military charity partly because a lot of my family have been in the forces; I couldn’t join personally so this is like my contribution.

“We’ve had a few successful events over the years like the cake stalls, and last year’s ‘I’m Not a Celebrity, Keep Me in Here’, when we caged a few locals in the garden; that was good fun.

“I’d like to thank all the regulars and people who have helped us raise the money, as well as Ken Collis, who has played a big part in it by providing raffle prizes and organising events. We will definitely be starting again in the near future.”

The Help for Heroes charity provides support for  wounded British soldiers and their families.
