A Westbury man is set to cycle 1,200km to Portugal over two and a half weeks in aid of charity.

Ian Cooper, together with his friend Les, is cycling from Somerset to the Algarve in Portugal at the end of this month and hopes to raise £1,000. They are raising money for Somerset charity BIBIC, who care for brain injured children, and Prostate Cancer UK.

Ian said, “My friend Les and I both enjoy cycling and it’s good exercise. Six years ago we cycled from Land’s End to John o’ Groats and raised a little bit of money for charity, but we are hoping to raise a lot more this time. We are leaving on 28th September and will cycle to Portsmouth where we will get the ferry over to Spain and carry on to Vale Do Lobo, near Almansil in the Algarve, aiming to arrive about 16th October. When cycling you are going at a slow enough pace to really appreciate a place and also get to meet a some wonderful people. We encourage those who are willing to donate to give generously to these charities.”
