Brokerswood Country Park reopened its gates last weekend having been closed to the general public since January 2013.
The park will now be open at weekends and during school holidays, 11.00am – 5.00pm during fine weather, to allow families to explore the beautiful woodland and enjoy the picnic areas, lake and adventure playgrounds.
Places can be booked to take part in a range of outdoor pursuits including a 30ft tree climb, archery, canoeing and kayaking, and opening this summer, a 15ft high treetops course. Brokerswood was closed to allow the historic woodland time to recover following several wet summers in succession, and higher than anticipated footfall.
Park director Sue Capon said, “It feels like it has been a long time, but we are really excited to be able to welcome members of the public back to Brokerswood Country Park once more. Whilst we would have loved to remain open for the past 16 months, our first responsibility is to the woodland, and we need to ensure it is well looked after to preserve it for future generations.
“The park will be open during weekends and school holidays until the autumn, but may be closed if the weather is wet. Our website will have up to date details of opening times and the park is booked for private functions on some days during August”.
