Primary school tables are released – Success for Dilton Marsh and Bitham Brook

LOCAL primary schools are performing well above the national average, with Dilton Marsh Primary School and Bitham Brook Primary School topping the performance tables in the local area. 

The 2013 primary school performance tables, which outline the achievements of pupils in primary schools, were published by the Department of Education in December.

The tables show the results achieved by schools in the key stage 2 (KS2) tests. Schools are judged by the percentage of pupils who achieve level four or above in reading, writing, and maths.

Dilton Marsh Primary School and Bitham Brook Primary School are shown as the top performing primary schools in the area, well above the national average of 75%. Dilton Marsh Primary School achieved 89%, while Bitham Brook Primary School achieved 88%.

Judith Finney, headteacher at Dilton Marsh Primary School said, “We do take academic achievement really seriously, we put in a lot of effort into that, and it’s rewarding when you get results.

“But we see it as part of a much broader picture. We’ve got a very exciting curriculum that delivers on academic standards and gives children a rounded education.

“I’d like to congratulate the whole school community on a very successful result.”

David Ross, headteacher at Bitham Brook Primary School said, “I am very pleased with the latest key stage 2 results, in which Bitham Brook Primary have performed so well. This is a fantastic achievement and great credit goes to the children for their enthusiasm, determination to succeed and their love of learning in every single class in the school.

“I would like to acknowledge and thank the teachers, teaching assistants and school staff for their excellent work in creating fantastic learning opportunities for our children to be so successful. Well done everyone!”

Also above average are  Chapmanslade Primary School (82%) and Westbury Leigh Primary School (78%).

Bratton Primary School achieved 68% and Westbury Junior School 67%.
