Schoolgirl off to world championships with Westbury Lions’ support

A WESTBURY schoolgirl is to compete for Great Britain at the world trampolining championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Ria Oliver is to compete at the 29th World Age Group Championships in trampolining, tumbling and dmt (double mini trampoline) in November and is being supported by Westbury Lions who have donated £250 to support her. The 12-year-old, who competes for Team Bath Evolution and trains at the University of Bath has had an amazing season winning five national golds and two silver medals.

Ria was selected to attend the home of British Gymnastics, Lilleshall National Sports Centre to trial for the Great Britain team in September. Three weeks later she got the news that she had made the British Gymnastics GB squad and was one of only four juniors to be selected to compete dmt.  Ria will travel to Bulgaria on the 10th November where she will start by supporting the senior squad including Olympian Kat Driscoll, World Cup winner Bryony Page and Peter Cracknell, who she trains with and who represented Great Britain at the world games in Columbia early this year. She will then attend a training camp in preparation for her age group competition. The world championships will see 47 countries compete in the three disciplines.

The training is self- funded and Ria needs to raise over £2,000. Thanks are expressed to the Westbury Lions for their support and Ria has a funding account   www.gofund me.com/4rqm2o if any businesses or residents would like to sponsor her; you can donate just £5.
