Since winning their opening three matches then leading 3-0 at Almondsbury, Westbury have now conceded nine goals without finding the net themselves!
This hard fought, even encounter was turned on its’ head by a brainless sending off committed by United’s Ally Bradley on 33 minutes; Bradley ran fully 50 yards and pushed over St George’s Jamie Johnson, who had made a late challenge in midfield, resulting in a deserved red card!
Prior to Bradley’s crazy action, Andrew Hamilton-Dunn brought a good save out of Lewis Porter early in the match, while at the other end Dan Dominy’s fierce strike at the back of post of Mark Young’s corner smashed against the post! Further chances came at both ends with Simon Millard firing straight at Adam Growcott then St George’s Nathan Churchill hitting a 25 yarder wide. The score remained goalless at half time.
Westbury’s 10 men were the better side straight after the break with Sam Walker going on a great run down the left and coming close to creating an opening while another Young corner clipped the bar.
Hamilton-Dunn set up the opening goal on 66 when he rounded the advancing Lewis and crossed to Paul Coles who made it 0-1.
There was only going to be one winner from that moment and Churchill’s corner was met by a bullet header by Scott Hendy a few minutes later before Hamilton-Dunn completed the scoring with a lovely curling shot late on.
