Find out more about Westbury White Horse with new display boards

VISITORS to the White Horse viewing area on the edge of Westbury will be treated to a welcome slice of local history, thanks to new display boards.westbury, wiltshire, westbury white horse, westbury town council, heritage, westbury area board,

The Westbury Area Board came up with the idea and provided funding for the three oak interpretation boards which feature details about the white horses of Wiltshire and highlight places of interest to visit in the area. The boards are entitled The White Horse; White Horses and Hill Figures and Exploring the Westbury area.

As well as making people more aware of the background and history of the famous hill figure, the area board hopes the new display boards will help boost visitors to the town and surrounding villages and raise awareness of the local heritage.

The boards were installed by volunteers from the local Ramblers working with the Wiltshire Council rights of way officer. The viewing area is set to be spruced up even more – Westbury Town Council now plans to install a seat under the cherry tree at the entrance, where there is a great view of the historic White Horse.
