Glitz and glamour of Bollywood Dance in Westbury

WESTBURYNetball Club has presented a cheque for £1,157 to the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group, after a fundraising evening of Bollywood Dancing.

Pippa Brewer and Kerry Nickels of the Westbury Netball Club, organised a charity event at the Leigh Park Community Centre on 13th April to raise money for the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group.  Debbie Bailey assisted them in this task by providing an insight into the “Glitz and glamour of Bollywood Dance”.

More than 100 people attended the evening, which included an hour long session of fabulous Bollywood Dance plus an Indian buffet.  Many of those who attended had never participated in this style of dance before, but were quickly mesmerised by Debbie’s coaching and all thoroughly enjoyed the dance session.

The charity was chosen by the netball club following the treatment of a friend at the RUH’s Cancer Unit in Bath, and felt they wanted to give something back in recognition of the support provided.  Debbie was delighted to assist the netball club in this task, and their hard work to organise a fun-filled evening paid off, with a amazing sum of £1,157 being raised.

Many of the members of the BCUSG’s Trowbridge committee attended the evening, including the chairman and secretary, and they are all very grateful to Pippa, Kerry and Debbie for organising this wonderful event.

The funds raised will go towards to the current £1.2 Million Appeal to purchase a new state of the art Positron Scanner for the RUH’s Cancer Unit, which will help to transform the treatment of cancer provided to patients in this area.
