Issue 473 – Westbury Music and Arts Festival set to return

Westbury’s successful month-long extravaganza of music, art, culture, and entertainment has come to a close, and organisers are already planning another Westbury Music and Arts Festival next year.

Organisers are now inviting people to come forward with their comments on any aspect of the festival, so that feedback can be used to plan an even better festival in the future. During the town’s second festival, local people were treated to concerts of a high musical standard, had the opportunity to view a variety of exhibitions, and had the chance to get creative themselves in workshops, along with many other events across the month.
David Perkins, chairman of this year’s festival said, “The four weeks of the Westbury Music & Arts Festival has seen some superb concerts of every genre and some wonderful arts exhibitions and workshops that have been thoroughly enjoyed by both the artists and the audiences alike.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks for all the hard work put in by the festival committee, in particular Heather Leach and Beverly Jessop, of the Matravers School art department, who have both been so instrumental in sorting out the myriad of details necessary to ensure events have run smoothly; the Lions representatives, Mike Pearce and Roy Inwood, for beavering away behind the scenes to get things moving with advertising, sponsorship and many other essential tasks too numerous to mention; Rotarian Bob Lee, the festival treasurer, for his selfless dedication in managing the finances; and all the others who helped to put the festival together.
“I would also like to thank the White Horse News for the exceptional publicity. Nobody in Westbury or the surrounding villages should complain that they were not aware of what was going on!
“It would have been nice to have had more people at some of the events, but those who did attend had a great time.”

Help shape the future of the festival
The committee is now inviting people to submit their comments so that any future festival can be shaped around what people want to see, hear, and participate in. David Perkins added,“Over the next few weeks we will be reviewing this year’s festival to see what lessons can be learned for the future and will be considering next year’s event. Please contact me at davedee.perkins@virgin.net if you would like to comment on any aspect or join the 2011 Westbury Music & Arts Festival Committee.”
