Issue 473 – Coast-to-coast cyclists raise £1,300

A FATHER and son from Westbury, who undertook a 175km cycling challenge, have raised £1,300 for The Prostate Cancer Charity.

Chris Steele and his son Jason rode in The Prostate Cancer Charity Tour Ride in September, taking on a full road stage of The Tour of Britain. This involved tackling the challenging 175km coast-to-coast route from Minehead to Teignmouth, taking in dramatic scenery and tough climbs on the way.
Chris said, “It was very tough, and there were a lot more hills than we envisioned! It took us about 8 hours and 40 minutes, but it was alright, when we got to the end it was a great achievement. We thought we’d try and raise £500 but got to £1,300!”
It’s a cause close to the family as Chris suffered from prostate cancer nearly four years ago.
Chris and Jason would like to say a big thank you to all their sponsors. Chris, who works as an electrical contractor in Westbury, said he had a lot of support from his customers from over the years, as well as friends and family.
