Issue 511 – Last few days to enjoy your festival

WESTBURY’S month-long Westbury Music and Arts Festival is now drawing to a close, with just a few days left to make the most of the culture and entertainment on offer.

For those wishing to enjoy the final events, tickets can be bought from the ticket hotline on 01373 864 364 or 01373 302 956.
The finale of the festival will be a concert by the Wiltshire and Swindon Youth Orchestra at Matravers School on Sunday 17th October at 3.00pm. The orchestra will bring a fine programme of British orchestral music to Westbury; the same programme which they will take on their upcoming tour to China, shortly after their visit to the town.
With the British theme in place, the concert will take on a “Last Night of the Proms” style celebration to end the festival, and people are invited to come along in their ‘best bib and tucker’ and enjoy a fun end to the festival!
Other remaining events include the recycling festival competition at Matravers School on Friday 15th at 7.00pm, life drawing at Matravers on Thursday 14th at 6.00pm, and the Festival of Choral Music at Matravers on Thursday 14th at 7.30pm.

Organisers are delighted that the festival is well past the breaking even point, and say that they have enjoyed a lot of positive feedback from people who have enjoyed the events.
Mike Pearce, a member of the Westbury Music and Arts Festival committee said, “I think people have turned out and supported it all really well. We’ve had two events where they flagged, but with so many, you’re bound to have a couple. It was a sell-out at Bratton for Finnegan’s Wake which was wonderful, and last Sunday at Edington pianist John Paul Ekins was absolutely superb, and people there loved having a Sunday afternoon concert.
“We’ve been thrilled with the people who have come to us and expressed how much they’ve enjoyed it.”
