Issue 461 – Fond farewell to hospital staff

STAFF at Westbury Hospital have bid two of their members a fond farewell, recognising many years of service to the community.

Wendy Elliot is retiring after 25 and a half years working as a receptionist at the hospital. Over this time she has had to deal with many changes, but has always been able to help patients and staff.
Wendy said, “I’ve seen a lot of changes, but have gone with it. I’ve made a lot of friends, and it’s been enjoyable.”
Barbara Pike has been volunteering at Westbury Hospital for over nine years. Having come in for 2 mornings a week, she has given around 2,500 hours to the hospital, something she has done with enthusiasm. “I love it,” she said. “It’s fun, good company, and we all work together really well.”
Wendy and Barbara have worked together closely over the past years, and were presented with flowers and gifts at a farewell party attended by colleagues and friends on Thursday 29th April.
“Barbara has always expressed her enjoyment by helping others,” said Suzanne Bennett, voluntary services co-ordinator. “Wendy’s been the backbone of the hospital, and they’ve both worked closely together.”
