Issue 448 – Council opposes bid to build 60 bed nursing home

AN application to build a 60-bed nursing home on Station Road has been opposed by Westbury Town Council.

The application, from Petherick Capital Limited, would replace the existing nursing home on the site, as well as the bungalow, garage and petrol station between 6-8 Station Road.
However the town council opposed the plans on the grounds that they represented over-development of the site, and including an insufficient provision for parking spaces.
Despite the plans being for a 60 bed care home, with numerous staff, the blueprints only included a car park big enough for 18 cars. The developers have claimed that staff and visitors could park at the High Street car park and walk to the home.
The application will now go before Wiltshire Council for a decision.
