Issue 464 – Lions present cheque to air ambulance

WESTBURY Lions Club has made a presentation of £500 to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

The money has been raised from the Lions’ various fundraising activities, including the donkey derby and Christmas float.
A group of Lions travelled to the air ambulance headquarters in Devizes on Wednesday 16th June to make the presentation. On their visit they were also shown around the helicopter by a member of the air ambulance, who was able to explain lots of interesting facts and details.
David Firth from the Lions said, “It’s a very good cause. It’s obviously a need in the community, and we’re here to support the community.”
The air ambulance appeal needs to raise £500,000 a year from public support to keep the service flying. It does not receive funding from government or qualify for National Lottery funding. Over the years, the crews have attended thousands of incidents and the charity is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
