Dr. Zebo’s Wheezy Club at Victoria Garden

Story posted on

HISTORIC gardens in Westbury proved just the ticket for a summer evening of music, as Victoria Garden off All Saints’ churchyard was the venue for a performance by Dr Zebo’s Wheezy Club!

More than 70 people came together on the evening of Saturday 25th June with their picnics, blankets and chairs, and enjoyed the band’s lively menu of toe tapping folky jazzy acoustic swing.

The event was sponsored by Westbury Lions and funds raised will help pay for projects to improve the public garden which is managed and maintained by the volunteers of Friends of Victoria Garden.

The garden, which was once the site of a millpond, was given to the town in 1897 by William Laverton. It has had a chequered history including being used as allotments, tennis courts and a private garden for the nearby vicarage.

It was restored and reopened to the public in the late twentieth century and is open every day weather permitting.
