Full steam ahead for Model Railway Show

THE West Wiltshire Gauge 0 Group are holding their ever-popular pre-Christmas annual railway show again this year (subject to any Covid restrictions). 

The show will kick off at 10am on November 13th and will end at 4.30pm. This will be the 21st show the group have put on for model train enthusiasts and families and will be put on at the Paragon Hall in Westbury. 

The entry prices this year are £6.00 adults and £5.00 for concessions and Gauge 0 Guild members. 12.00 for a family of 2+2 and £2.00 for children,  

The layouts invited this year are varied and will cover most of the popular scales and gauges. 

Back again is Keith Wareham’s ever popular 0 Gauge Test Track. Also in 0 Gauge and 014 is Tim Cockcroft’s End of the Road. This layout has been illustrated in the Model Railway Magazines, as well as Aze Vallet Mill SR. 

For the 00 enthusiast there is Woodside GWR and Pine Road SR and Dunhill 1950/60’s S&DJR at Bridgenorth Docks. 

In H0 Sans Souci a Swiss layout. In N Gauge, the Sandford GWR returns, as does Bitterfeld German Track Engineering. 

Also on show will be the Scalextric layout operated by Verity and Ashley Jones. Children and young at heart are encouraged to have fun and possibly even operate the cars. 

Trade support this year is once more from A.P.K Models with pre-owned quality 0 gauge stock, David Smith Books, Branchlines of Westbury with kits, motors and gears etc in most gauges, John Drago pre owned railway items and a bring and buy stall. 

Modelling demonstrations are by The Bristol 0 Gauge Group. There will be a tombola with prizes donated by members of the West Wiltshire Gauge 0 Group. Refreshments will also be available. 

The Paragon Hall is immediately adjacent to High Street Car Park, where there are also disabled facilities.  

From the car park, there is a slope down to the hall. There is a two-inch step into the hall. There is also a lower car park for longer paid parking. Currently there is 2 hours free parking with ticket to be displayed.  

“Come along and have an enjoyable time relaxing with a cup of tea and a cake watching the trains go by,” says the group.
