Christmas Lights switch on and Chilli Fest events planned

Story posted on

THE Westbury Christmas Lights switch on and market will take place on November 27th this year, and will again be run by Westbury Town Council.

At Monday’s town council policy and resources committee meeting members unanimously agreed to spend up to £18,650 on the Christmas in Westbury event, with £12,363.10 of that earmarked for the Christmas lights.

P&R chair, cllr Mike Sutton, said the money would fund a mix of old and new lights, saying, “The old ones are being replaced with LED lights as in theory they last 10 times as long.

“It’s a fairly average figure we spend every year.”

If you would like to have a stall at this year’s expanded High Street market, you can request one from events@westburytowncouncil.gov.uk.

The event will follow on from the Wiltshire Chilli Fest on September 25th, where the UK Chilli Queen (as seen on TV) will be running a chilli eating competition!  Children will have a full Circus Workshop running all day at the Chilli Fest, with illustrating lessons from Spacecraft and a ‘Day of the Dead’ themed Kids’ Zone behind the library.

There are just a few stalls spaces left for any budding chilli themed stallholders. Contact events@westburytowncouncil.gov.uk
