Remembrance at Holy Trinity, Dilton Marsh

Story posted on

Reverend Caroline Husband, presided at Holy Trinity’s service of Remembrance, to a packed church.

The church reports, “The service was especially poignant as, with the unexpected absence of an organist, the singing was unaccompanied and gave this reporter anyway a sense of how it would have been for soldiers at the front when one person started to sing and gradually more voices joined in.

“The service was followed by wreath laying at the Dilton Marsh war memorial under the expert guidance of church warden, Garth Brocksopp.

“Holy Trinity Church thank Westbury Family History group for their wonderful Remembrance Exhibition in the church that started, following the Remembrance Service.

“Remembering those who gave their todays for our tomorrows, those who came home and much more.

“A ‘soldier’ is sitting on the back pew praying for all those who lost their lives in the wars. He is cloaked in poppies – one poppy for each life lost.

“The exhibition was open daily 10th – 16th November.”
