Jordan hat trick as United hit Keynsham for six

Sat. 2nd Nov. Toolstation Western Premier League Keynsham Town 2 Westbury United 6

The wind and  rain didn’t seem to bother the Westbury players as they made the journey to Keynsham and helped themselves to three points.

It was a slow start from both teams, with only a Callum Demkiv penalty separating them at the interval. Demkiv had been brought down and he insisted on taking the resulting penalty.

The halftime break injected some fire into the game, that warm and dry changing rooms must have been enough motivation for Westbury to kick up a gear. Straight after the break Demkiv burst through, rounded the keeper and calmly finished into an empty net to get his and Westbury’s second of the afternoon.

There was a frantic five minutes that started on the 56th minute, Joe Stradling drove forward from centre midfield and unleashed a shot on target from 25yards Sam Jordan was hovering around 12 yards out and got his face on to the ball to change the direction enough to deceive the goalkeeper and make it 3-0.

On the hour mark Keynsham got one back, a good ball into the box by Ben Harris was finished by Matt Long.

Any fear of the game swinging into Keynsham’s favour was quickly quashed by an instant reply from Westbury’s top goal scorer Ricky Hulbert, Sam Jordan picked the ball up in the centre circle and played a perfectly weighted pass into the inside left channel for Ricky Hulbert to take control without breaking stride. His first touch took him into the penalty area, his second changed the angle slightly and as the keeper was frozen, Ricky slammed the ball home to make it 4-1.

Sam Jordan was on the scoresheet again just before the 70 minute mark, a Ryan Bole corner was lofted into the area and finished by Jordan for his second and Westbury’s fifth. The entertainment continued and on the 85th minute Keynsham got their second. A long distance shot from Jamie Price, about 30 yards out took a wicked deflection which looped it up and over Ed Baldy in the Westbury goal.

The final goal came in the closing stages of the game, Sam Jordan showing his poacher’s instinct to guide another shot into the net, this time with his shin

An excellent second half performance gave Westbury a well-deserved 3 points
