Join United on Non-League Day

Story posted on

Non-League Day provides a platform for clubs to promote the importance of affordable volunteer-led community football, while giving fans across the country the chance to show support for their local non-league side.

This year, Non League Day takes place on Saturday 12th October when Westbury United  take on Combined Counties league side Badshot Lea in The FA vase.

United joint manager, Neil Kirkpatrick, said, “The FA Vase is a national competition for clubs at our level and we’ve come through two rounds already, so for anyone living in our area who hasn’t watched Westbury play, Non League Day is the perfect time to start with a fantastic game on offer. It’s also a great chance for anyone who goes to watch professional sides to come along and enjoy a game, be close up to the action, enjoy a beer or a cup of tea and not pay a fortune for it. Westbury Youth will be providing mascots for the game.

“The FA Vase tie will kick off at 3pm on Saturday, October 12th at Meadow Lane , postcode BA13 3AF. Parking  is available at the ground and the entrance price for an adult supporter is £6. Concessions apply and it’s free entry for armed forces personnel, so why not go along and support your local team. You never know, you may just enjoy it!

“Non-League Day was set up by James Doe in 2010 after being inspired by a pre-season trip to Devon to watch Queens Park Rangers play at Tavistock. It has now grown to become an annual part of the football calendar, backed by Premier League and Football League clubs, charities and most importantly the non-league clubs themselves. This year Prostate Cancer UK is once again the proud official charity partner of Non-League Day and they are calling on clubs across the land to fundraise on their match day and raise awareness of a disease killing one man every 45 minutes.”
