Westbury Churches Together- What kind of world are we creating?

Story posted on

I don’t know about you, but I don’t find watching the news these days a pleasant experience.

Brexit, knife crime, climate change, mental health issues, online bullying….the list goes on and on, and we are left wondering how things are going to change. We wait in hope and anticipation for those in authority, whether it be in government or institution, to bring about changes that will help all in society but so often nothing changes, and the most weak and vulnerable are ignored or forgotten.

And that can make us feel sad, hopeless and full of despair. It can cause us to feel anxious for our lives and those of our children and grandchildren, and we question what kind of world we are creating for them. We may even question whether God cares about all the stuff that is going on and why he allows such things to happen. Have you ever had these thoughts? Have you ever wondered where God was when you needed him most?

If this is where you are, then please do get in touch with someone from your local church. We are always ready to listen, to offer support and encouragement where we can, and to accompany you through some of life’s tougher moments.

Jesus said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) The Church is by no means a perfect place, but it may be a place where you can find peace and hope. May Jesus, the Prince of Peace, fill your hearts with his love and his hope.

God bless you.
