School says “thank you” for outdoor learning donations

WESTBURY Leigh Primary School has sent a “massive thank you” to those who have supported their Justgiving fundraiser so far, to improve outdoor provisions at the school.

Last month, Westbury Leigh Primary School launched their Justgiving fundraiser to develop their outdoor provision, including updating Shearwater Farm, their on-site farm, which is looked after by the children.

Anna Thurman, business manager said, “We have had many super generous donations including those from Oktoberfest based at the Horse and Groom pub and The Busy Books team, as well as parents, staff and some who have given anonymously. We still have a long way to go to reach our £6,000 target, but we are determined to get there.

“Our aim is to enrich the outdoor learning experiences utilising our school grounds so that the children further develop reflective and inquisitive learning, problem solving skills and continue to develop a joy of being outside.

“Over the past few months we have been developing a forest school area, and the children have been busy building amazing shelters and a wooden xylophone. Our goats, Cinnamon and Nutmeg, have a new purpose-built pen, so that they are safe and secure.

“Without donations of both money and people’s time, we would not be able to do these amazing things at school, which really enrich the learning environment.
