Lakeside View residents’ annual litter pick

Story posted on

A team of residents from the Lakeside View estate recently held their annual litter pick, covering the estate and nearby roads.

Organised by Tamas Kiss, volunteers were able to make use of litter collecting equipment and safety vests loaned out by the town council.

Cllr Ward Jones, a resident of the estate said, “Thankfully the promised rain did not materialise, which made for a pleasant morning and an opportunity to socialise, as well as tidy up the area. The group were pleased to discover that although there was plenty of litter to collect, fewer bags were needed than in previous years.

“While the town council organises regular litter picks, going in turn to different locations around Westbury, Lakeside residents would be interested in learning if there are other similar voluntary groups around the town. As we have found, even a couple of hours a year can make such a difference to a locality and it’s a cost-free way of improving our townscape.”
