Achtung! Great News for Westbury’s Oktoberfest 18

Story posted on

WESTBURY’s Oktoberfest event, which will be held on Saturday 6th October, 12noon to 10.00pm, at the Horse and Groom,  will feature more craft beers, a visit by The Bathhampton Morris Men, the chance to win a weekend break in Munich, along with live music throughout the day.

Organisers say, “Having secured five prime German Oktoberfestbiers, including Paulaner and Lowenbrau for this year’s festival, we can now announce the craft beers that will be available.

“They start with a dark ruby red ale, Gaucho, brewed by Westbury’s own Twisted Ale company. Next to Cascadia Ghost, a unique Porter. Cascadia is a ghost town in Oregon USA, the original home of the Cascadia hop. We then have a genuine gourmet Indian Pale Ale, Posh IPA, from Yeovil. Finally, a premium extra special bitter (ESB) called Tailshaker from Great Oakley, is a full bodied, rich pale ale with a floral hoppy finish.

“After last year’s successful debut, Oktoberfest have secured a return visit from The Bathhampton Morris Men, on the afternoon of Oktoberfest. They are hugely popular and probably the best Morris men in the region, they will perform two sets starting at 3.00pm. Please come along and enjoy.

“If that wasn’t enough already, how about winning a weekend break to the home of Oktoberfest – the City of Munich? Sponsored by Keeva Travel, you and a guest will be flown over for two nights with accommodation to this world famous city. Tickets available on the day of the festival in the marquee. Director of Keeva Travel, Rory McManus, will be available during the day to discuss your future exotic holiday requirements. Keeva Travel are also sponsoring one of the barrels.

“We are grateful to all our barrel sponsors as all money raised by the prize draw and barrel sponsorship will be used to support good causes in Westbury and district as we have done in previous years.

“Finally, live music will be supplied during the day and into the evening by our own Stuart Saye (guitar and vocals) and ‘Stamp’ with their own blend of Rockin’ Rhythm and Blues!  Refreshments, including frankfurters and bratwursts,  will be available throughout the day.
