Youngsters complete 30-mile walking challenge for Bath Cancer Unit

Story posted on

THE White family say they are brimming with pride as youngsters, Theo and Rosie, completed their 30-mile walking challenge over the summer holidays, raising more than £700 for Bath RUH’s cancer unit.

Brother and sister, Theo and Rosie White wanted to do something to help raise money after watching Stand Up To Cancer and decided to walk a mile a day over the summer holidays to raise money for Bath Cancer Unit Support Group.

Theo and Rosie were unaware at the time of planning the challenge that their granny had recently been diagnosed with stage 2b cervical cancer and was going through extensive daily treatment at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.

With their granny now cancer-free, they decided they wanted to walk for her, and talk about the journey she had been on and the people who had helped care for her.

The siblings have now completed their challenge, clocking up their miles in a different place every day including Lacock, Stour Head, Bradford on Avon Canal and Heaven’s Gate.

They were joined by the Bath Unity Players amateur dramatic group for their final two walks whilst camping in Sidmouth. Theo also did a very special mile in the Royal United Hospital following a check-up, where he also visited the oncology department, where the money raised will be used.

So far, they have raised over £700, with their donation page staying open until the end of the week.

Mum, Hayley White said, “We have had the most incredible summer and would like to thank everyone who has donated, supporting two young people who wanted to make a difference, and now, with all the money they have raised, they know they have made a difference. We are so incredibly proud of them.”
