A WOMAN from Westbury celebrated a belated 70th birthday by jumping out of a plane, raising over £600 for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Wendy Kerley, who turned 70 in February this year, wanted to do something ‘mad’ to celebrate her birthday, choosing to do a skydive from Old Sarum airfield, near Salisbury.
Just a few weeks ago, Wendy called up the site to book her skydive and to her surprise, was offered a place within the week. On Thursday 12th July, she was teamed up with her instructor and completed her jump.
“I loved every minute of it,” Wendy told White Horse News, “I thought I would be nervous, but I wasn’t. They were all so professional and friendly. My birthday was in February, so I was celebrating a belated birthday but wanted to do something mad – I’m a bit mad anyway so it was great to get something crossed off my bucket list.
“You just have to do something whilst you can. I loved it so much that I would have gone back up straight after and done it again if I could!
“I have raised over £600 for Alzheimer’s Research UK, with more donations to come in.”
Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. As research experts, they fund world-class pioneering scientists, aiming to find prevention, treatment and a cure for dementia.
