Cricket pre-season abandoned due to rain

HEAVY rain has been Westbury & District Cricket club’s biggest rival during the pre-season as matches are cancelled due to waterlogged wickets.

Pre-Season Match.  Westbury versus Potterne  at Westbury on Saturday 14th April 2018. Heavy rain puts paid to first Pre-Season match against local rivals. The first pre-season match of the 2018 cricket season had to be cancelled to the heavy amount of rain that had fallen over the previous couple of weeks.  This was a great disappointment to the team that was looking forward to starting the 2018 season.

Pre-Season match.  Westbury versus Trowbridge at Westbury on Sunday 15th April 2018.

Wet wicket puts paid to latest pre-season match at against local rivals. The latest pre-season match against local rivals Trowbridge  who won the Wiltshire and Gloucestershire League last season had to be cancelled as the wicket had not recovered from the rainfall that had fallen over the last couple of weeks.

Pre-Season match.   Westbury versus Bath at Westbury on Saturday 28th April 2018.

The rain stops Westbury in latest pre-season match. The latest pre-season match against West of England Premier One side Bath had to be cancelled as the rain that fell during the week and had covered the wicket which made the ground  not fit for play.

Pre-Season Match.   Westbury versus Urchfont at Westbury on Sunday 29th April 2018.

Wet wicket puts paid to latest pre-season game.

The latest pre-season match against Urchfont at Westbury had to be cancelled again as the wicket was not fit for play.  This was a great disappointment for the team as it means that the players have not had many games to practice prior to the 2018 league season starts next week.
