BUSINESS is booming for Westbury’s tool hire company, Hire Standards, with an increase in size of the workforce, brand new equipment available to hire and a new branch, set to open in Frome.

The local company has been based at the West Wilts Trading Estate for 11 years, offering quality tools, equipment and access products at a reasonable rate to trade and DIY customers.

“It’s a very exciting time for Hire Standards,” said managing director Matthew Rowe. “We have taken on two new members of staff in Westbury and created three roles for the new branch in Frome.

“We’ve bought £500,000 worth of new equipment from JCB to update the fleet. So we have over 30 new items for customers to hire, including new dumpers and rollers.

“I’m feeling very nervous and very excited about the expansion to Frome. This is something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I’m optimistic that this will be a great success. It’s already given the business a lift and brought in fresh and exciting ideas.

“Frome is where I cut my teeth in the industry with a local independent company there, before it was taken over by a national. So it’s a great feeling to return to the area; we’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to expand and open a new store. It’s all happened so quickly, we didn’t know it was happening eight weeks ago, it was still just an idea then.”

To celebrate the new store at the Marston Trading Estate in Frome, Hire Standards will be hosting an open day on Tuesday 1st May from 8am until 3pm.

Matthew said, “We have representatives from JCB and Makita coming to celebrate with us. There will be food and hot drinks on offer and a raffle with the grand prize of a gas barbecue up for grabs. To be in with a chance to win, customers need to spend £10 in the store.”
