CROSSPOINT, a Westbury-based charity providing support for vulnerable residents is setting up an outpost in Bratton.

Crosspoint, the Westbury -based charity, has been serving the community for over ten years. It provides a place where vulnerable residents with either emotional, psychological, health, housing or financial needs, and who fail to make the most of statutory provided services by reason of their social, health and financial situations, can come for help and support.

Crosspoint provides access to debt counselling as well as personal counselling, and serves as the Westbury outlet of the Warminster Food Bank.

Reverend Andrew Sinclair said, “As Christmas approaches, the work of Crosspoint becomes increasingly important. TV advertising urging people to spend now with nothing to pay for a year can lead people into serious debt problems. The message that Jesus was born in poverty in a stable is often lost amid the desire of shops to get us to spend more and more.

“Over the past few months, the ministers serving Bratton, Simon Gray, Malcolm Wieck and myself, have been seriously considering the possibility of setting up an outpost of Crosspoint in Bratton, to help the vulnerable people of this village who may find getting to Westbury difficult or inconvenient.

“We have held a couple of preparatory meetings, as well as consulting with the leaders of Crosspoint. We have a core of people who would like to volunteer, and are looking for more volunteers. If you are interested, please feel free to contact Simon Gray on 01373 830746 or myself on 01373 830374.

“We have been in talks with the Jubilee Hall to make arrangements to use that venue, and some of the practicalities such as finance and the provision of a phone and wi-fi connection are under consideration.

“Now it is time to work towards a possible opening of Crosspoint Bratton on the morning of Saturday 27th January. It will not be open as frequently as the Westbury drop-in centre, but we will provide the same range of services. “
