CHILDREN at Bitham Brook Primary School’s year 6 had a fantastic day recently when they attended the Wiltshire Festival of Engineering at the Civic Hall in Trowbridge.

The hands-on event gave children some great opportunities to develop their engineering skills, including building a bridge out of spaghetti, exploring with virtual reality headsets, learning how to make the most efficient paper aeroplanes and piercing a balloon with a kebab stick.

David Ross, headteacher, who attended the event with the children said, “This was an excellent opportunity for the children to find out more, to be inspired, for great learning and to have lots of fun. This is a great way for children to be enthused and excited by all the amazing opportunities that are available to them.”

One of the year 6 children said, “It was great fun. There were so many things to have a go at and I loved the way it made me think really hard.”
