WESTBURY business, Gooding Accounts, held their third annual Race Night in aid of the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group (BCUSG)and drew a crowd of over 200 people, who helped raise over £7,000 for the charity.

White Horse Country Park was packed to capacity for the six pre-recorded live races. Horses were auctioned off to owners, and a tote ran for each race, in addition to other fundraising promotions.

Compere Sam Gooding, brought the audience together for a swift game of heads and tails, and the evening was rounded off with live and silent auctions followed by an extensive raffle.

Gooding Accounts say, “With Sam leading the way, the evening’s success was an extensive team effort with the support of colleagues, friends and clients, and for that we extend our thanks to everyone who donated their time, cash, and prizes, along with our event sponsors.

“With cancer affecting families and friends all too often, it is a subject that touches virtually everyone, and the generosity on the night was overwhelming. The total raised was just over £7,100, which exceeded by far the £5,000 that we were hoping for, and will go a long way to helping those affected by cancer make their treatment more bearable.”

Marie Brichard-Parsons who has worked alongside Sam organising the race nights, and is part of the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group, said, “I am continually blown away by the support the charity receives from the local community, and this year’s Race Night has exceeded all expectations. All costs were covered by very generous sponsors, and therefore every penny raised will go directly to our local cancer unit, within Bath’s RUH.  On behalf of the BCUSG, I would like to thank everyone who supported and attended the Race Night.”
